About the Artist

Kristine Heggem Brokstad is a Norwegian painter whose work blends abstract and organic forms, inspired by the intricate patterns and textures found in nature. Born in Norway in 1994, her upbringing amongst the forests, fjords and mountains of Northern Europe profoundly influences her vibrant and dynamic paintings. Studying under the esteemed Norwegian classical painter Bjørn Algrim enriched her technique, while her seven year long academic journey through political science, economics, philosophy and psychology broadened her perspective on life’s complexities.

Now based in Detroit, United States, Kristine continues to explore intersections of  figurative and abstract expressions, finding inspiration in nature and her extensive travels throughout Europe and her five years living in the United States, respectively in New York, Oregon and Michigan). Besides painting, she has written music since she was taught to play guitar at thirteen, picked up piano at fourteen, and has been singing for as long as she can remember, creating a harmonious and curious world of visual and auditory expressions in her art practice.

She is well studied with a MSc. and BSc. in Political Science from the University of Oslo and a BSc. in International Management from BI Norwegian Business School, where she was awarded for graduating with the highest GPA in her class.
